Michael C. Snell: thoughts on travel and photography.
Travel and photography — two inseparable yet integral parts of my life. Whether I travel to photograph things or photograph things in order to travel has yet to be determined. You might as well ask whether I eat to live or live to eat. Both are true, I’m not sure which takes precedence. I will say that my photography has provided me with travel opportunities I would not have had otherwise, and for that I’m grateful.
Whether you are photographing your own travels just to record your experiences, or have a desire to become a professional travel photographer, I hope you will find some inspiration in my stories. Inspiration to make better photos, or just to seek out new places, there should be something here for everyone who suffers from wanderlust as I do.
Full disclosure: Many of the images you’ll see here came from fully or partially hosted trips. I do take advantage of press trip opportunities when it can offset the costs of my travels. I do my best, however, to not allow this to affect my images or recommendations. I will always do my best to be honest about my experiences whether I’ve been hosted or not.

I have a series of books called “The Journals of a Travel Photographer” that follow several of my travels abroad. I also have a free e-book on Spanish Paradores and a book “10×5” that chronicles the experiences of four other photographers and I during a 10-day stretch traveling my home state of Kansas. Check them all out on my shop page.
